Jella Friedrich sings her ways to the Battles on The Voice of Switzerland
Tell us a little bit about yourself Jella?
I’m 24 years old and I started my career as an Apprentice here at IIC. I now work as an IT Supporter on the Helpdesk. In my role I provide frontline and 2nd level support for IIC in Bern, and our subsidiaries in China, the Netherlands and the USA. In my spare time I practise meditation and yoga and am interested in spirituality.
What has been your biggest challenge working here so far?
IIC is an international organisation and the business language is English. When I started work, I didn’t really feel confident in speaking business English. I think I’ve really progressed, and I speak English every day with my colleagues.
What do you enjoy about your role as IT Supporter?
The team here are fantastic, I enjoy working in an international environment because IIC is very dynamic and diverse. There are so many people here that come from different countries it’s a great place to work.
Tell us about your passion of singing?
I started singing when I was 4 years old and since then I have always imagined myself singing on a big stage one day. “The Voice” seemed like a perfect first step for that. So, when I heard that “The Voice of Switzerland” was back after a 4- or 5-year break, I felt like I had to take the chance and go for it.
What is your experience of being a contestant on The Voice of Switzerland?
It’s nerve wracking, emotional and exciting! It is a very new experience for me, and I can’t really compare it to anything. The absolute best thing about it is connecting with other singers and musicians and learning from them. I have never met so many singers all at one time.
You succeeded in the blind auditions, what stage are you at now?
I’m so thrilled to be part of the show this year, but at the same time it scares me a lot! Now we are getting ready for our battles and Anna my coach is doing her best to support me. I will be singing Crazy by Gnarls Barkley with a nice battle partner who I will keep as a secret for now.
Tune in to The Voice of Switzerland tonight at 8.15pm on Swiss Channel 3+
